Hosted RSA SecurID®
Now more than ever, people are working from their home offices. Remote work & distributed team environments reduce overhead costs, provide greater work-life balance for employees and even lead to greater job satisfaction & increased productivity.
Logistically, though, how do those remote workers securely access the shared networks & drives necessary to complete critical tasks?
The answer: Hosted RSA SecurID® individually registered key fobs for remote access. What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Most applications & tools you access online require a single factor to authenticate your identity, such as a password. But the problem with passwords is that they're often easy to guess at, easy to overhear & remember - and, more often than not, used repeatedly by one person, making all your applications vulnerable to intrusion.
Two-factor authentication requires two identifying entries in order for a user to access protected information. With RSA Security solutions, those two factors are:
- A code generated by an individually registered RSA SecurID® key fob
- A PIN number
The RSA SecurID® key fob generates a new code every 60 seconds. This code cannot be predicted, and the user must be in possession of the fob in order to retrieve the code. At the same time, the user must know the PIN number, which is not written on the key fob.
The result? Greater security
When a user enters both the correct token code and the PIN number, there is a higher degree of likelihood that the user is, in fact, the owner of the key fob - and the rightful person to access the requested information.
